Chinese Unicorn Qilin

I know this is not the Qilin, Kilin or Kirin (Japanese) that can be seen the most. But I found this description in my book about mythology, where the Qilin is described as having the body of an oxen, its hooves and tail, a horse's mane, golden antlers of a stag and the head and scales of a dragon(*1). The head is rather small but has big eyes, sharp teeth and some fluffy beard Even though it has a strange outer appearance that might making it appear scary, it is of a gentle nature (that's why I like the thought of the ox's body^^)

I added bridle and saddle because I found photos of Chinese saddles and this bridle on Google and thought I should add them^^ First I thought of a carousel Qirin but I like it better that way.


I don't like the colour much. I liked it better as a sketch but it's too messy to upload.

(*1) The head is not really a dragon's head but the Chinese statues often look as if the head was far too big and bulky... So I just added some Asian dragon elements on it^^

I feel there is more adornment needed and other colours ö.Ö Maybe I'll redo it.

I'm just not good at colouring and I was upset because I had to delete my mating centaurs this morning -.-' I guess that made me being not too interested in how this turned out
